Biography of William Herbert 2nd Earl Pembroke 1st Earl Huntingdon 1451-1491

Before 5th March 1451 [his father] William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke (age 28) and [his mother] Anne Devereux (age 21) were married.

On 5th March 1451 William Herbert 2nd Earl Pembroke 1st Earl Huntingdon was born to William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke (age 28) and Anne Devereux (age 21).

                    On 1st September 1466 a double wedding ceremony was held whereby two siblings, children of William Herbert, 1st Earl of Pembroke (age 43) married:
                
                    William Herbert 2nd Earl Pembroke 1st Earl Huntingdon (age 15) and Mary Woodville Countess Pembroke and Huntingdon (age 10) were married. See Woodville Marriages. She the daughter of Richard Woodville 1st Earl Rivers (age 61) and Jacquetta of Luxemburg Duchess Bedford (age 51). He the son of William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke and Anne Devereux (age 36).
                
                    Thomas Talbot 2nd Viscount Lisle (age 17) and Margaret Herbert Viscountess Lisle were married. She the daughter of William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke and Anne Devereux. They were half fifth cousin once removed. He a great x 5 grandson of King Edward I of England.

On 27th July 1469 [his father] William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke (age 46) was executed following his capture at the Battle of Edgecote Moor the day before. His son William (age 18) succeeded 2nd Earl Pembroke, 2nd Baron Herbert of Raglan. [his wife] Mary Woodville Countess Pembroke and Huntingdon (age 13) by marriage Countess Pembroke.

His brother [his uncle] Richard Herbert (age 46) was also beheaded on the same day.

Around 1476 [his daughter] Elizabeth Herbert 3rd Baroness Herbert Raglan was born to William Herbert 2nd Earl Pembroke 1st Earl Huntingdon (age 24) and [his wife] Mary Woodville Countess Pembroke and Huntingdon (age 20).

In November 1478 [his brother-in-law] Bishop Lionel Woodville (age 31) was appointed Dean of Exeter which he held until 1482.

                    In 1479 William Herbert 2nd Earl Pembroke 1st Earl Huntingdon (age 27) was compelled to relinquish the Earldom of Pembroke by King Edward IV (age 36) who gave it to his son.
                
                    Edward Prince of Wales (age 8) was created 1st Earl Pembroke.
                
                    In compensation William was created 1st Earl Huntingdon. [his wife] Mary Woodville Countess Pembroke and Huntingdon (age 23) by marriage Countess Huntingdon.

Around 1481 [his wife] Mary Woodville Countess Pembroke and Huntingdon (age 25) died.

                    On 17th April 1483 the coffin of Edward IV (deceased) was carried to Westminster Abbey [Map] by Edward Stanley 1st Baron Monteagle (age 21), John Savage (age 39), Thomas Wortley (age 50), Thomas Molyneux (age 38), probably John Welles 1st Viscount Welles (age 33) who had married Edward's daughter Cecily), John Cheney 1st Baron Cheyne (age 41), Walter Hungerford (age 19), Guy Wolston (age 50), John Sapcote (age 35), Thomas Tyrrell (age 30), John Risley, Thomas Dacre 2nd Baron Dacre Gilsland (age 15), John Norreys, Louis de Bretelles and John Comyn 4th Lord Baddenoch.
                
                    Those in the procession included:

She the illegitmate daughter of King Richard III of England (age 31). He the son of William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke and Anne Devereux (age 54). They were sixth cousins.

On 9th April 1484 [his brother-in-law] Edward York Prince of Wales (age 10) died at Middleham Castle [Map] leaving his father [his father-in-law] King Richard III of England (age 31) without an heir. Duke of Cornwall, Earl Salisbury, Earl Chester extinct.

Patent Rolls. 8th March 1485. Westminster. Grant to the king's kinsman, William, Earl of Huntingdon (age 34), and [his wife] Catharine (age 14) his wife of an annuity of 152l. 10s. 10d. from the issues of the king's possessions in the counties of Caermarden and Cardigan and of the king's lordship of Haverford West in South Wales until they shall have of the king's grant to themselves and the heirs of their bodies, lordships, manors, lauds and other possessions to the same value. After 1486 [his mother] Anne Devereux (deceased) died.

Before November 1487 [his wife] Katherine York Countess Huntingdon (age 16) died.

On 25th November 1487 Elizabeth of York (age 21) was crowned Queen Consort England at Westminster Abbey [Map].

On 16th July 1491 William Herbert 2nd Earl Pembroke 1st Earl Huntingdon (age 40) died. Earl Huntingdon extinct. His daughter [his daughter] Elizabeth (age 15) succeeded 3rd Baroness Herbert of Raglan.
