Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses

Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.

There have been two creations of Baron Eden:

2nd. 3rd October 1983. John Eden 1st Baron Eden of Winton. Extinct. 23rd May 2020.

Baron Eden of Norwood in Surrey 1st Creation 1839

The Queen has been pleased to direct letters patent to be passed under the Great Seal, granting the dignities of Baron and Earl of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland unto the Right Honourable George Lord Auckland [aged 55], G. C. B. and the heirs male of his body lawfully begotten, by the names, styles, and titles of Baron Eden, of Norwood, in the county of Surrey, and Earl of Auckland.

The Queen has also been pleased to direct letters patent to be passed under the Great Seal, granting the dignity of' a Baron of the United Kingdom, of Great Britain and Ireland unto Lieutenant-General Sir John 'Keane [aged 58], GCB. and the heirs male of his body, lawfully begotten, by the name, style, and title of Baron Keane, of Ghuznee, in Afghanistan, and of Cappoquin, hi the county of Waterford.

On 1st January 1849 George Eden 1st Earl Auckland [aged 64] died unmarried. Earl of Auckland and Baron Eden of Norwood in Surrey extinct. His brother Robert [aged 49] succeeded 3rd Baron Auckland of West Auckland.

Baron Eden of Winton in County Durham 2nd Creation 1983

The Queen has been pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm, dated 3rd October 1983, to confer the dignity of a Barony of the United Kingdom for life upon the Right Honourable Sir John Benedict Eden [aged 58], Baronet, by the name, style and title of Baron Eden Of Winton, of Rushyford in the County of Durham. On 23rd May 2020 John Eden 1st Baron Eden of Winton [aged 94] died. Baron Eden of Winton in County Durham extinct since it weas created for life only. His son Robert [aged 56] succeeded 8th Baronet Eden of Maryland, 10th Baronet Eden of West Auckland.
