The Chronicle of Jean le Bel, Volume 2 continues one of the most important fourteenth-century accounts of the early Hundred Years’ War. Written by the Liège chronicler Jean le Bel, this vivid narrative follows the fortunes of Edward III, Jean II of France, the Black Prince, the great nobles of France and England, and the soldiers, captains and companies who shaped the conflict. The Queen [aged 52] has been pleased to direct Letters Patent to be passed under the Great Seal granting the dignity of a Baron of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland unto the Right Honourable John Arthur Douglas [aged 68], Baron Bloomfield, in that part of the said United Kingdom called Ireland, G.C.B., Her Majesty's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to His Majesty the Emperor of Austria, and the heirs male of his body lawfully begotten, by the name, style, and title of Baron Bloomfield, of, Ciamhalltha, in the county of Tipperary.
