Baronet Lombe aka Jodrell of Salle Park in Norfolk
On 22nd January 1784 John 1st Lombe Baronet [aged 53] was created 1st Baronet Lombe aka Jodrell of Salle Park in Norfolk with remainder in default of male issue of his own to his brother Edward [aged 51] and the heirs male of his body and in default thereof to the male issue of Edward Hase's daughter, Virtue Hase.
On 27th May 1817 John 1st Lombe Baronet [aged 86] died. He was buried at St Mary's Church, Bylaugh on 5th June 1817. His great nephew Richard [aged 35] succeeded 2nd Baronet Lombe aka Jodrell of Salle Park in Norfolk.
He left his estates to Edward Beevor aka Lombe [aged 46] son of Doctor John Beevor and Mary Russell, possibly his illegitimate son if a scandal with which the name of Mrs. Beevor, the doctor’s wife, was connected was true. Upon Sir John’s death Edward Beevor took the name of Lombe, with a provision in his will: "And whereas it is my wish and intention that a mansion house and suitable offices fit for the residence of the owner of my estate shall be erected on some convenient spot in the parish of Bylaugh in the county of Norfolk either in my lifetime or after my death and that if I shall not erect the same in my lifetime then that my said trustees shall forthwith after my death erect the same according to such plan as I shall in my lifetime approve of or if I shall die before such plan shall be prepared and completed then according to such plan as the trustees or trustee for the time being under this my will with the consent of the person for the time being beneficially entitled to the immediate freehold of my said manors &c under this my will shall think proper to adopt adhering as closely as possible situation and other incidental circumstances being considered to the plan of the house now the residence of Robert Marsham esquire at Stratton Strawless in the said county of Norfolk."
