Around 1382 Eleanor Berkeley Countess Arundel was born to John Berkeley (age 29) and Elizabeth Bettershorne (age 29).

Before 1405 [her future husband] Walter Hungerford 1st Baron Hungerford (age 26) and Eleanor or Catherine Peverell were married.

Before 1407 John Fitzalan 6th or 13th Earl of Arundel (age 21) and Eleanor Berkeley Countess Arundel (age 24) were married. They were second cousin twice removed. He a great x 4 grandson of King Henry III of England. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King John of England.

On 14th February 1408 [her son] John Fitzalan 7th or 14th Earl of Arundel was born to [her husband] John Fitzalan 6th or 13th Earl of Arundel (age 22) and Eleanor Berkeley Countess Arundel (age 26) at Lytchett Maltravers, Dorset.

On 13th October 1415 Thomas Fitzalan 10th Earl of Surrey 5th or 12th Earl of Arundel (age 34) died. His first cousin once removed [her husband] John (age 30) succeeded 5th or 13th Earl Arundel. Eleanor Berkeley Countess Arundel (age 33) by marriage Countess Arundel. Earl Surrey extinct.

Around 1422 [her daughter] Eleanor Poynings Countess Northumberland was born to [her husband] Richard Poynings (age 22) and Eleanor Berkeley Countess Arundel (age 40).

Around 1425 Walter Hungerford 1st Baron Hungerford (age 46) and Eleanor Berkeley Countess Arundel (age 43) were married.

On 7th January 1426 [her husband] Walter Hungerford 1st Baron Hungerford (age 47) was created 1st Baron Hungerford. Eleanor Berkeley Countess Arundel (age 44) by marriage Baroness Hungerford.

There is some uncertainty as to whether they did marry; they were betrothed as children. She the daughter of John Cornwall 1st Baron Fanhope 1st Baron Milbroke (age 62) and Elizabeth Lancaster Duchess Exeter. He the son of [her former husband] John Fitzalan 6th or 13th Earl of Arundel and Eleanor Berkeley Countess Arundel (age 44). They were third cousin once removed. Before 8th June 1427 [her mother] Elizabeth Bettershorne (age 74) died.

On 5th March 1428 [her father] John Berkeley (age 76) died.

In 1429 [her son] John Fitzalan 7th or 14th Earl of Arundel (age 20) and [her daughter-in-law] Maud Lovell Countess Arundel were married. She by marriage Countess Arundel. He the son of [her former husband] John Fitzalan 6th or 13th Earl of Arundel and Eleanor Berkeley Countess Arundel (age 47). They were fourth cousin once removed. He a great x 5 grandson of King Henry III of England.

On 10th June 1429 [her husband] Richard Poynings (age 29) was killed at Orléans.

Battle of Gerberoy

On 9th May 1435 a French force commanded by Étienne Vignolles "La Hire" heavily defeated an English force commanded by [her son] John Fitzalan 7th or 14th Earl of Arundel (age 27) at the Battle of Gerberoy.

On 12th June 1435 John Fitzalan 7th or 14th Earl of Arundel was captured and died from wounds received at the battle. His son [her grandson] Humphrey (age 6) succeeded 8th ot 15th Earl Arundel, 5th Baron Maltravers, 5th Baron Arundel.

Richard Woodville 1st Earl Rivers (age 30) fought.

Before 1449 [her son-in-law] Henry Percy 3rd Earl of Northumberland (age 27) and [her daughter] Eleanor Poynings Countess Northumberland (age 26) were married. She the daughter of [her former husband] Richard Poynings and Eleanor Berkeley Countess Arundel (age 66). He the son of Henry Percy 2nd Earl of Northumberland (age 55) and Eleanor Neville Countess Northumberland (age 51). They were fifth cousins. He a great x 2 grandson of King Edward III of England.

The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 9th August 1449 [her husband] Walter Hungerford 1st Baron Hungerford (age 71) died at Salisbury. He was buried at the Hungerford Chapel at Salisbury Cathedral [Map]. Before 1450 [her son] William Fitzalan 9th or 16th Earl of Arundel (age 32) and [her daughter-in-law] Joan Neville Countess Arundel (age 26) were married. She by marriage Countess Arundel. She the daughter of Richard Neville Earl Salisbury (age 49) and Alice Montagu 5th Countess of Salisbury (age 42). He the son of [her former husband] John Fitzalan 6th or 13th Earl of Arundel and Eleanor Berkeley Countess Arundel (age 67). They were third cousins. On 1st August 1455 Eleanor Berkeley Countess Arundel (age 73) died.
