On 30th October 1726 Thomas Frankland 2nd Baronet died. His son Thomas succeeded 3rd Baronet Frankland of Thirkleby in Yorkshire. The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed." 1851. The present All Saints Church, Thirkleby, North Yorkshire [Map] was commissioned in 1851 by Lady Louisa Frankland-Russell (age 60) of Thirkleby Park in memory of her late husband, Sir Robert. Designed by the renowned Victorian 'rogue' architect Edward Buckton Lamb it incorporates an octagonal chapel dedicated to the Frankland family beneath which lies the family vault.

Louisa Anne Murray Lady Thirkleby: On 29th May 1790 she was born to Bishop George Murray. In 1815 Robert Frankland-Russell 7th Baronet and she were married. She the daughter of Bishop George Murray. On 4th January 1831 Thomas Frankland 6th Baronet died at Thirkleby Hall, North Yorkshire. His son Robert succeeded 7th Baronet Frankland of Thirkleby in Yorkshire. She by marriage Lady Frankland of Thirkleby in Yorkshire. On 21st February 1871 Louisa Anne Murray Lady Thirkleby died. She was buried at All Saints Church, Thirkleby, North Yorkshire [Map].

Emily Anne Frankland-Russell Lady Frankland: On 24th November 1821 she was born to Robert Frankland-Russell 7th Baronet and Louisa Anne Murray Lady Thirkleby. On 10th November 1847 William Payne-Gallwey 2nd Baronet and she were married. She by marriage Lady Payne of Hampton Hill. On 2nd October 1882, following the death of her husband William Payne-Gallwey 2nd Baronet, Emily Anne Frankland-Russell Lady Frankland re-assumed the surname Frankland by Royal License. On 13th September 1913 Emily Anne Frankland-Russell Lady Frankland died.

William Thomas Payne-Gallwey: On 25th March 1881 he was born to Ralph Frankland-Payne-Gallwey 3rd Baronet. On 14th September 1914 William Thomas Payne-Gallwey presumed killed in action at the Battle of Aisne. His body was never recovered and he was commemorated on the La Ferté-sous-Jouarre memorial.

Kathleen Lucille Payne-Gallwey: On 6th January 1884 she was born to Lionel Philip Payne-Gallwey and Caroline Lucille Lynch. On 10th August 1920 Kathleen Lucille Payne-Gallwey died of consumption contracted in Greece during the Revelution of 1917.
