On 4th July 1622 John Cooper 1st Baronet (age 24) was created 1st Baronet Cooper of Rockbourne in Southampton. Anne Ashley Lady Cooper by marriage Lady Cooper of Rockbourne in Southampton.

After 20th July 1628 John Cooper 1st Baronet (age 30) and Mary Hicks Lady Cooper and Morrison were married. She by marriage Lady Cooper of Rockbourne in Southampton.

On 23rd March 1631 John Cooper 1st Baronet (age 33) died at Cassiobury, Watford. He was buried in Wimborne St Giles Church. His son Anthony (age 9) succeeded 2nd Baronet Cooper of Rockbourne in Southampton.

On 21st January 1683 Anthony Ashley-Cooper 1st Earl Shaftesbury (age 61) died. His son Anthony (age 31) succeeded 2nd Earl Shaftesbury, 2nd Baron Ashley of Wimborne St Giles, 3rd Baronet Cooper of Rockbourne in Southampton. The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

On 16th February 1713 Anthony Ashley-Cooper 3rd Earl Shaftesbury (age 41) died. His son Anthony (age 2) succeeded 4th Earl Shaftesbury, 4th Baron Ashley of Wimborne St Giles, 5th Baronet Cooper of Rockbourne in Southampton.

On 27th May 1771 Anthony Ashley-Cooper 4th Earl Shaftesbury (age 60) died. His son Anthony (age 9) succeeded 5th Earl Shaftesbury, 5th Baron Ashley of Wimborne St Giles, 6th Baronet Cooper of Rockbourne in Southampton.

On 14th May 1811 Anthony Ashley-Cooper 5th Earl Shaftesbury (age 49) died. His brother Cropley (age 42) succeeded 6th Earl Shaftesbury, 6th Baron Ashley of Wimborne St Giles, 7th Baronet Cooper of Rockbourne in Southampton. On 2nd June 1851 Cropley Ashley-Cooper 6th Earl Shaftesbury (age 82) died. His son Anthony (age 50) succeeded 7th Earl Shaftesbury, 7th Baron Ashley of Wimborne St Giles, 8th Baronet Cooper of Rockbourne in Southampton. On 1st October 1885 Anthony Ashley-Cooper 7th Earl Shaftesbury (age 84) died. His son Anthony (age 54) succeeded 8th Earl Shaftesbury, 8th Baron Ashley of Wimborne St Giles, 9th Baronet Cooper of Rockbourne in Southampton. Harriet Augusta Anna Seymourina Chichester Countess Shaftesbury by marriage Countess Shaftesbury.

On 13th April 1886 Anthony Ashley-Cooper 8th Earl Shaftesbury (age 54) died. His son Anthony (age 16) succeeded 9th Earl Shaftesbury, 9th Baron Ashley of Wimborne St Giles, 10th Baronet Cooper of Rockbourne in Southampton.

On 25th March 1961 Anthony Ashley-Cooper 9th Earl of Shaftesbury (age 91) died. His grandson Anthony (age 22) succeeded 10th Earl Shaftesbury, 10th Baron Ashley of Wimborne St Giles, 11th Baronet Cooper of Rockbourne in Southampton.

On 5th November 2004 Anthony Ashley-Cooper 10th Earl of Shaftesbury (age 66) was murdered by the brother, Mohammed M'Barek, of his wife Jamila Ben M'Barek Countess of Shaftesbury (age 43) on her behalf. On 7th April 2005 the remains of Anthony Ashley-Cooper 10th Earl of Shaftesbury were discovered in a valley at Théoule-sur-Mer, Alpes-Maritimes on the outskirts of Cannes. His son Anthony (age 27) succeeded 11th Earl Shaftesbury, 11th Baron Ashley of Wimborne St Giles, 12th Baronet Cooper of Rockbourne in Southampton. He died six weeks after assuming the title folowing the discovery of his father's remains.

On 15th May 2005 Anthony Ashley-Cooper 11th Earl of Shaftesbury (age 27) died of a heart attack. His brother Nicholas (age 25) succeeded 12th Earl Shaftesbury, 12th Baron Ashley of Wimborne St Giles, 13th Baronet Cooper of Rockbourne in Southampton.

On 12th February 1841 Astley Paston Cooper 1st Baronet (age 72) died at around 1pm at his house on Conduit Street. He was interred in the crypt of the Chapel of Thomas Guy, St Thomas Street (on the site now shared by King's College London and Guy's Hospital). His nephew Astley (age 43) succeeded 2nd Baronet Cooper of Gadesbridge in Hertfordshire.

On 6th January 1866 Astley Paston Cooper 2nd Baronet (age 67) died. His son Astley (age 41) succeeded 3rd Baronet Paston-Cooper of Gadebridge in Hertfordshire.

On 19th October 1904 Astley Paston Paston-Cooper 3rd Baronet (age 80) died. His son Charles (age 37) succeeded 4th Baronet Paston-Cooper of Gadebridge in Hertfordshire.

In 1941 Charles Naunton Paston Paston-Cooper 4th Baronet (age 73) died. His first cousin Henry (age 65) succeeded 5th Baronet Paston-Cooper of Gadebridge in Hertfordshire.

On 25th August 1959 Henry Lovick Cooper 5th Baronet (age 84) died. His first cousin once removed Patrick (age 41) succeeded 6th Baronet Paston-Cooper of Gadebridge in Hertfordshire.

On 15th June 2002 Patrick Graham Astley-Cooper 6th Baronet (age 83) died. His son Alexander (age 59) succeeded 7th Baronet Astley-Cooper of Gadebridge in Hertfordshire.

The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed."
