Chronicle of a Bourgeois of Valenciennes
Récits d’un bourgeois de Valenciennes aka The Chronicle of a Bourgeois of Valenciennes is a vivid 14th-century vernacular chronicle written by an anonymous urban chronicler from Valenciennes in the County of Hainaut. It survives in a manuscript that describes local and regional history from about 1253 to 1366, blending chronology, narrative episodes, and eyewitness-style accounts of political, military, and social events in medieval France, Flanders, and the Low Countries. The work begins with a chronological framework of events affecting Valenciennes and its region under rulers such as King Philip VI of France and the shifting allegiances of local nobility. Around 1170 Ermengarde Beaumont Sarthe Queen Consort Scotland was born to [her father] Richard Beaumont Sarthe I Viscount and [her mother] Lucie Aigle Viscountess.

In 1193 [her daughter] Margaret Dunkeld Countess Kent was born to [her husband] King William I of Scotland and Ermengarde Beaumont Sarthe Queen Consort Scotland. She married 1236 Hubert de Burgh Count Mortain 1st Earl Kent and had issue.
Before 1194 [her brother-in-law] David Dunkeld 8th Earl Huntingdon and Matilda Gernon Countess Huntingdon were married. She by marriage Countess Huntingdon. She the daughter of Hugh de Kevelioc Gernon 5th Earl Chester and Bertrade Montfort Countess Chester. He the son of Henry Dunkeld 3rd Earl Huntingdon 1st Earl of Northumbria and Ada Warenne Countess Huntingdon and Northumbria.
In 1195 [her daughter] Isabella Dunkeld Countess Norfolk was born to [her husband] King William I of Scotland and Ermengarde Beaumont Sarthe Queen Consort Scotland. She married May 1225 Roger Bigod 4th Earl Norfolk, son of Hugh Bigod 3rd Earl Norfolk and Maud Marshal Countess Norfolk and Surrey.
On 24th August 1198 [her son] King Alexander II of Scotland was born to [her husband] King William I of Scotland and Ermengarde Beaumont Sarthe Queen Consort Scotland at Haddington, Haddingtonshire. He married (1) 21st June 1221 Joan Plantagenet Queen of Scotland, daughter of King John of England and Isabella of Angoulême Queen Consort England (2) 1239 Marie Coucy and had issue.
After 1199 [her father] Richard Beaumont Sarthe I Viscount died.
In 1200 [her daughter] Marjorie Dunkeld Countess Pembroke was born to [her husband] King William I of Scotland and Ermengarde Beaumont Sarthe Queen Consort Scotland. She married 1st August 1235 Gilbert Marshal 4th Earl Pembroke, son of William Marshal 1st Earl Pembroke and Isabel Clare Countess Pembroke.
In 1201 [her sister-in-law] Margaret Dunkeld Duchess Brittany died.
In 1206 [her sister-in-law] Ada Dunkeld Countess Holland died.
On 4th December 1214 [her husband] King William I of Scotland died at Stirling. He was buried at Arbroath Abbey. [her son] King Alexander II of Scotland succeeded II King Scotland.
On 21st June 1221 King Alexander II of Scotland and Joan Plantagenet Queen of Scotland were married at York Minster. She by marriage Queen Consort Scotland. She the daughter of King John of England and Isabella of Angoulême Queen Consort England. He the son of King William I of Scotland and Ermengarde Beaumont Sarthe Queen Consort Scotland.
Around May 1225 [her son-in-law] Roger Bigod 4th Earl Norfolk and Isabella Dunkeld Countess Norfolk were married. She by marriage Countess Norfolk. On 12th February 1233 Ermengarde Beaumont Sarthe Queen Consort Scotland died. She was buried at Balmerino Abbey. [her brother] Raoul Beaumont Sarthe I Viscount succeeded I Viscount of Beaumont le Vicomte.
