James Ogilvy 1st Earl Findlater 1595-1652

In or before 1595 [his father] Walter Ogilvy 1st Lord Ogilvy of Deskford [aged 34] and [his mother] Mary Douglas were married. She the daughter of [his grandfather] William Douglas 6th Earl Morton [aged 54] and [his grandmother] Agnes Leslie Countess Morton [aged 52].

Around 1595 James Ogilvy 1st Earl Findlater was born to Walter Ogilvy 1st Lord Ogilvy of Deskford [aged 35] and Mary Douglas.

On 17th February 1610 James Ogilvy 1st Earl Findlater [aged 15] and Elizabeth Leslie were married. She the daughter of Andrew Leslie 5th Earl Rothes [aged 80]. They were first cousin once removed.

After 17th February 1610 James Ogilvy 1st Earl Findlater [aged 15] and Marion Cunningham were married. She the daughter of William Cunningham 8th Earl Glencairn [aged 35] and Jean Kerr Countess Glencairn. They were half second cousin once removed.

Before 14th February 1627 [his father] Walter Ogilvy 1st Lord Ogilvy of Deskford [aged 67] died.

In October 1631 [his wife] Marion Cunningham died.

On 5th April 1637 [his son-in-law] William Cunningham 9th Earl Glencairn [aged 27] and Anne Ogilvy Countess Glancairn were married. She by marriage Countess Glencairn. She the daughter of James Ogilvy 1st Earl Findlater [aged 42] and Elizabeth Leslie. He the son of William Cunningham 8th Earl Glencairn and Jean Kerr Countess Glencairn. They were half second cousin once removed.

On 20th February 1638 James Ogilvy 1st Earl Findlater [aged 43] was created 1st Earl Findlater with remainder to heirs male of his body succeeding to his estates.

On 20th February 1638 James Ogilvy 1st Earl Findlater [aged 43] was re-created 1st Earl Findlater with a special remainder to his eldest daughter's husband, Sir Patrick Ogilvy, provided Sir Patrick styled himseld Lord Deskford and Inchmartine..

In 1652 James Ogilvy 1st Earl Findlater [aged 57] died without male issue. [his future son-in-law] Patrick Ogilvy 2nd Earl Findlater succeeded 2nd Earl Findlater.

[his daughter] Anne Ogilvy Countess Glancairn was born to James Ogilvy 1st Earl Findlater and Elizabeth Leslie. She married 5th April 1637 her half second cousin once removed William Cunningham 9th Earl Glencairn, son of William Cunningham 8th Earl Glencairn and Jean Kerr Countess Glencairn.

[his daughter] Elizabeth Ogilvy was born to James Ogilvy 1st Earl Findlater and Elizabeth Leslie. She married before May 1659 Patrick Ogilvy 2nd Earl Findlater and had issue.
