Henry Bathurst 2nd Earl Bathurst 1714-1794

In July 1704 [his father] Allen Bathurst 1st Earl Bathurst [aged 19] and [his mother] Catherine Apsley Countess Bathurst Sussex were married. They were first cousins.

On 20th May 1714 Henry Bathurst 2nd Earl Bathurst was born to Allen Bathurst 1st Earl Bathurst [aged 29] and Catherine Apsley Countess Bathurst Sussex. Coefficient of inbreeding 6.25%.

Around 1729 Henry Bathurst 2nd Earl Bathurst [aged 14] educated at Balliol College, Oxford University.

In 1754 Henry Bathurst 2nd Earl Bathurst [aged 39] and Anne James were married. He the son of Allen Bathurst 1st Earl Bathurst [aged 69] and Catherine Apsley Countess Bathurst Sussex.

In 1759 Henry Bathurst 2nd Earl Bathurst [aged 44] and Tryphena Scawen Countess Bathurst Sussex [aged 28] were married. He the son of Allen Bathurst 1st Earl Bathurst [aged 74] and Catherine Apsley Countess Bathurst Sussex.

On 22nd May 1762 [his son] Henry Bathurst 3rd Earl Bathurst was born to Henry Bathurst 2nd Earl Bathurst [aged 48] and [his wife] Tryphena Scawen Countess Bathurst Sussex [aged 31]. He married April 1789 his fifth cousin once removed Georgiana Lennox Countess Bathurst and had issue.

On 16th September 1775 [his father] Allen Bathurst 1st Earl Bathurst [aged 90] died. His son Henry [aged 61] succeeded 2nd Earl Bathurst of Bathurst in Sussex, 2nd Baron Bathurst. [his wife] Tryphena Scawen Countess Bathurst Sussex [aged 44] by marriage Countess Bathurst of Bathurst in Sussex.

In April 1789 Henry Bathurst 3rd Earl Bathurst [aged 26] and Georgiana Lennox Countess Bathurst [aged 23] were married. He the son of Henry Bathurst 2nd Earl Bathurst [aged 74] and Tryphena Scawen Countess Bathurst Sussex [aged 58]. They were fifth cousin once removed. She a great x 2 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 6th August 1794 Henry Bathurst 2nd Earl Bathurst [aged 80] died at Oakley Grove Cirencester, Gloucestershire. His son Henry [aged 32] succeeded 3rd Earl Bathurst of Bathurst in Sussex, 3rd Baron Bathurst. Georgiana Lennox Countess Bathurst [aged 28] by marriage Countess Bathurst of Bathurst in Sussex.

On 2nd December 1807 [his former wife] Tryphena Scawen Countess Bathurst Sussex [aged 76] died.

Letters of Horace Walpole. Nugent is most affectedly an humble servant of Mr. Pelham, and seems only to have attached himself to the Prince, in order to make the better bargain with the ministry; he has great parts, but they never know how to disentangle themselves from bombast and absurdities. Besides those, there are two young men who make some figure in the rising Opposition, Bathurst(4) attorney to the Prince; and Potter, whom I believe you have had mentioned in my letters of last year; but he has a bad constitution, and is seldom able to be in town. Neither of these are in the scale of moderation.

(4) The Hon. Henry Bathurst, second heir of Allen, first Lord Bathurst, He became heir to the title upon the death, without issue, of his elder brother, the Hon. Benjamin Bathurst, in 1761. In 1746 he was appointed Attorney-General to Frederick, Prince of Wales; in 1754, one of the puisne judges of the Court of Common Pleas, and in 1771, Lord Chancellor. He was, upon this occasion, created a peer, by the title of Lord Apsley. He succeeded his father as second Earl Bathurst in 1775, and died in 1794.-D.
