On 27th June 1723 Robert Clifton 5th Baronet [aged 33] and Frances Coote Lady Clifton were married. She the daughter of Nanfan Coote 2nd Earl Bellomont and Lucia Anna van Nassau [aged 39].

In 1727 Robert Clifton 5th Baronet [aged 37] stood for MP East Retford and MP Nottinghamshire. He was returned for MP East Retford. In 1734 he was returned unopposed.

In 1731 [his father] Gervase Clifton 4th Baronet [aged 65] died. His son Robert [aged 41] succeeded 5th Baronet Clifton of Clifton in Nottinghamshire. [his wife] Frances Coote Lady Clifton by marriage Lady Clifton of Clifton in Nottinghamshire.

In 1733 [his wife] Frances Coote Lady Clifton died.

On 16th October 1739 Robert Clifton 5th Baronet [aged 49] and Hannah Lombe Lady Clifton were married. She by marriage Lady Clifton of Clifton in Nottinghamshire.

In 1744 [his son] Gervase Clifton 6th Baronet was born to Robert Clifton 5th Baronet [aged 54] and [his wife] Hannah Lombe Lady Clifton.

In 1748 [his wife] Hannah Lombe Lady Clifton died.

In March 1748 [his son-in-law] George Carpenter 1st Earl Tyrconnel [aged 24] and [his daughter] Frances Clifton Countess Tyrconnel were married.

In 1765 [his former wife] Judith Thwaites Lady Clifton died.

[his daughter] Frances Clifton Countess Tyrconnel was born to Robert Clifton 5th Baronet and Frances Coote Lady Clifton. She married March 1748 George Carpenter 1st Earl Tyrconnel, son of George Carpenter 2nd Baron Carpenter and Elizabeth Petty Baroness Carpenter, and had issue.
