Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry 1852-1915

On 3rd August 1846 [his father] George Henry Vane-Tempest 5th Marquess Londonderry [aged 25] and [his mother] Mary Cornelia Edwards Marchioness Londonderry [aged 17] were married. He the son of [his grandfather] Charles William Vane 3rd Marquess Londonderry [aged 68] and [his grandmother] Frances Vane Tempest Marchioness Londonderry [aged 46].

On 16th July 1852 Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry was born to George Henry Vane-Tempest 5th Marquess Londonderry [aged 31] and Mary Cornelia Edwards Marchioness Londonderry [aged 23].

On 2nd October 1875 Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry [aged 23] and Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 19] were married at Alton, Cheadle, Staffordshire. She the daughter of Charles Chetwynd-Talbot 19th Earl of Shrewsbury 4th Earl Talbot [aged 45] and Anna Theresa Cockerell Countess Shrewsbury and Waterford [aged 39]. He the son of George Henry Vane-Tempest 5th Marquess Londonderry [aged 54] and Mary Cornelia Edwards Marchioness Londonderry [aged 46].

On 8th September 1876 [his daughter] Helen Vane-Tempest-Stewart Countess Ilchester was born to Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry [aged 24] and [his wife] Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 20]. She married 25th January 1902 Giles Fox-Strangways 6th Earl of Ilchester, son of Henry Edward Fox-Strangways 5th Earl of Ilchester, and had issue.

On 13th May 1878 [his son] Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart 7th Marquess of Londonderry was born to Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry [aged 25] and [his wife] Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 21]. He married 28th November 1899 Edith Chaplin Marchioness Londonderry, daughter of Henry Chaplin 1st Viscount Chaplin and Florence Sutherland Leveson-Gower, and had issue.

On 4th December 1879 [his son] Charles Stewart Reginald Vane-Tempest-Stewart was born to Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry [aged 27] and [his wife] Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 23].

In June 1882 [his brother-in-law] Charles Chetwynd-Talbot 20th Earl of Shrewsbury 5th Earl Talbot [aged 21] and Ellen Palmer Morewood Countess Shrewsbury Waterford Talbot [aged 25] were married. She being older, already married, with a child. He being nineteen. They eloped. Their first child born three months after the marriage. She by marriage Countess of Shrewsbury, Countess Waterford, Countess Talbot. He the son of [his father-in-law] Charles Chetwynd-Talbot 19th Earl of Shrewsbury 4th Earl Talbot and [his mother-in-law] Anna Theresa Cockerell Countess Shrewsbury and Waterford [aged 46].

On 6th November 1884 [his father] George Henry Vane-Tempest 5th Marquess Londonderry [aged 63] died. His son Charles [aged 32] succeeded 6th Marquess Londonderry. [his wife] Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 28] by marriage Marchioness Londonderry.

In 1888 Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry [aged 35] was appointed 791st Knight of the Garter by Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom [aged 68].

On 12th November 1889 [his brother-in-law] Wentworth Canning Blackett Beaumont 1st Viscount Allendale [aged 28] and [his sister] Alexandrina Louise Maud Vane-Tempest Viscountess Allendale [aged 26] were married. She the daughter of [his father] George Henry Vane-Tempest 5th Marquess Londonderry and [his mother] Mary Cornelia Edwards Marchioness Londonderry [aged 60].

On 9th October 1899 [his son] Charles Stewart Reginald Vane-Tempest-Stewart [aged 19] died.

On 28th November 1899 Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart 7th Marquess of Londonderry [aged 21] and Edith Chaplin Marchioness Londonderry [aged 20] were married. He the son of Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry [aged 47] and Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 43].

On 25th January 1902 [his son-in-law] Giles Fox-Strangways 6th Earl of Ilchester [aged 27] and Helen Vane-Tempest-Stewart Countess Ilchester [aged 25] were married. She the daughter of Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart 6th Marquess Londonderry [aged 49] and Theresa Susey Helen Chetwynd-Talbot Marchioness Londonderry [aged 45]. He the son of Henry Edward Fox-Strangways 5th Earl of Ilchester [aged 54].

The Times. 2nd February 1905. The funeral of [his brother] Lord Henry Vane-Tempest [deceased] took place yesterday in the family vault in St. Peter's [Map], Montgomeryshire. The Bishop of Bangor [aged 59], assisted by the Rev J. Williams, rector of the parish, and the Rev. S. J. Evans, officiated. The principal mourmers were the Marquis [aged 52] and [his wife] Marchioness of Londonderry [aged 48] (brother and sister-in-law), Lord Herbert Vane-Tempest [aged 42] (brother), and Mr. Beaumont [aged 44], M.P., and Lady Aline Beaumont [aged 41] (brother-in-law and sister). In 1906 [his mother] Mary Cornelia Edwards Marchioness Londonderry [aged 77] died.

9th February 1915. Times Newspaper Obituaries. The news of the death of the Marquess of Londonderry [deceased], which occurred at Wynyard, Stockton-on-Tees, yesterday morning, will be received with profound regret far beyond the circle of his personal friends or of the members of the Unionist Party. Lord Londonderry had not been entirely well for some little time past. For a fortnight, it seems, he had been suffering from sciatica. Last week he caught a chill, from which pneumonia developed. On Sunday his condition was seen to be critical. During the night he collapsed, and the end came at 9.30 yesterday morning. [his former wife] Lady Londonderry [aged 58], who had been in constant attendance on him during his illness, was present at the last, as also were [his daughter] Lady Ilchester [aged 38] and [his brother] Lord Herbert Vane-Tempest [aged 52].
