Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke
Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson.

On 19th June 1855 Frederick Lambton was born to [his father] George Frederick D'Arcy Lambton 2nd Earl Durham [aged 26] and [his mother] Beatrix Frances Hamilton Countess Durham [aged 20]. He was the younger of twins, the elder being [his brother] John George Lambton 3rd Earl Durham.
On 19th June 1855 [his brother] John George Lambton 3rd Earl Durham was born to [his father] George Frederick D'Arcy Lambton 2nd Earl Durham [aged 26] and [his mother] Beatrix Frances Hamilton Countess Durham [aged 20]. He was the elder of twins, the younger being Frederick Lambton 4th Earl Durham. He married 28th October 1882 Ethel Milner Countess Durham.
In 1871 [his mother] Beatrix Frances Hamilton Countess Durham [aged 36] died.
On 29th August 1877 [his brother-in-law] Sidney Herbert 14th Earl Pembroke 11th Earl Montgomery [aged 24] and [his sister] Beatrix Louisa Lambton Countess Pembroke and Montgomery [aged 18] were married. She the daughter of [his father] George Frederick D'Arcy Lambton 2nd Earl Durham [aged 48] and [his mother] Beatrix Frances Hamilton Countess Durham. They were fifth cousin once removed. On 26th May 1879 Frederick Lambton [aged 23] and Beatrix Bulteel [aged 20] were married. He the son of George Frederick D'Arcy Lambton 2nd Earl Durham [aged 50] and Beatrix Frances Hamilton Countess Durham. They were second cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.
On 27th November 1879 [his father] George Frederick D'Arcy Lambton 2nd Earl Durham [aged 51] died. His son [his brother] John [aged 24] succeeded 3rd Earl Durham.
In 1880 Frederick Lambton [aged 24] unsuccessfully contested MP Berwick on Tweed.
On 31st March 1880 Frederick Lambton [aged 24] was elected MP South Durham which seat he held until 24th November 1885 when the constituency was abolished.

Coefficient of inbreeding 1.57%. She married 1921 Hugh Edward Joicey 3rd Baron, son of James Joicey 1st Baron Joicey and Elizabeth Amy Robinson, and had issue.
On 3rd May 1895 George Robert Charles Herbert 13th Earl Pembroke 10th Earl Montgomery [aged 44] died in Frankfurt. His brother [his brother-in-law] Sidney [aged 42] succeeded 14th Earl Pembroke, 11th Earl Montgomery, 3rd Baron Herbert Lea. [his sister] Beatrix Louisa Lambton Countess Pembroke and Montgomery [aged 36] by marriage Countess Pembroke, Countess Montgomery.
Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

In 1898 Frederick Lambton [aged 42] unsuccessfully contested MP South East Durham.
On 1st October 1900 Frederick Lambton [aged 45] was elected MP South East Durham. He was re-elected in 1906 but lost the seat on 15th January 1910.
On 14th July 1902 [his son-in-law] Charles Cospatrick Douglas-Home 13th Earl of Home [aged 28] and Lilian Lambton Countess of Home [aged 20] were married. She the daughter of Frederick Lambton 4th Earl Durham [aged 47] and Beatrix Bulteel Countess Durham [aged 43]. He the son of Charles Douglas-Home 12th Earl of Home [aged 68] and Maria Gray Countess of Home [aged 53]. They were third cousin once removed.

On 1st September 1914 [his son] Geoffrey Lambton [aged 26] died.
In 1921 [his son-in-law] Hugh Edward Joicey 3rd Baron [aged 40] and Joan Katherine Lambton Baroness Joicey [aged 27] were married. She the daughter of Frederick Lambton 4th Earl Durham [aged 65] and Beatrix Bulteel Countess Durham [aged 61].
On 28th December 1923 [his brother-in-law] Edgar Gascoyne-Cecil 1st Viscount Cecil [aged 59] was created 1st Viscount Cecil of Chelwood of East Grinstead in Sussex. [his sister] Eleanor Lambton Viscountess Cecil [aged 55] by marriage Viscountess Cecil of Chelwood of East Grinstead in Sussex.
On 18th September 1928 John George Lambton 3rd Earl Durham [aged 73] died. His brother Frederick [aged 73] succeeded 4th Earl Durham; he died four months later. Beatrix Bulteel Countess Durham [aged 69] by marriage Countess Durham.
On 31st January 1929 Frederick Lambton 4th Earl Durham [aged 73] died having held the Earldom for only four months. His son John [aged 44] succeeded 5th Earl Durham.
Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses
Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.

The Times. 5th February 1929. The funeral of the Earl of Durham [deceased] took place yesterday at Burnmoor. The [his former wife] Countess of Durham [aged 69] who was unable to attend owing to illness, received the following telegram from the Queen [aged 61]:- "I send you and your family my sincere sympathy in your great sorrow.".
The cortege left Fenton [Map] at 11.30, and, as followed by 25 coaches, three of which conveyed wreaths. The chief mourners included [his son] Viscount Lambton [aged 44] and Captain the Hon. Claud Lambton [aged 45] (sons). Captain the Hon. D'Arcy Lambton [aged 62], the Hon. George Lambton [aged 68], and the Hon. Charles Lambton [aged 71] (brothers). Viscount Cecil (brother-in-law), the Earl [aged 56] and Countess of Ellesmnere [aged 48] (son-in-law and daughter), the Earl of Home (son-in-law). The officiating clergy were the Rev. Ralph Watson. the Rev. A. J. Gadd, the rector, and the Rev. G. F. Eolme. Tenants from Lord Durham's Fenton Estate were the bearers. A memorial eervice for Lord Durham was held vesterday at St. Peter's. Eaton-square, the Rev. Austin Thompson officiating. Among those present were:- The Hon. Mrs. Charles Lambton. the Bon. Mrs. Claud Lambton, Air. D'Arcy [?]. the Earl and Countess of Pembroke. Colonel the Hon. George Herhert also represented the Dowager Countess of Pembroke. Mr Arthur Lambton, the Duke and Duchess of Abereorn the Dowager Marchioness of Lansdowne Alberta Marchioness of Blanford.
On 27th April 1937 [his former wife] Beatrix Bulteel Countess Durham [aged 78] died.
