On 27th August 1833 [his father] Henry Paget 2nd Marquess Anglesey (age 36) and [his mother] Henrietta Bagot Marchioness Anglesey were married. He the son of [his grandfather] Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey (age 65) and [his grandmother] Caroline Elizabeth Villiers Duchess Argyll (age 58). They were fifth cousin once removed.

On 6th August 1846 [his brother-in-law] George Finch-Hatton 6th Earl Nottingham 11th Earl Winchilsea (age 31) and [his half-sister] Constance Henrietta Paget Countess Nottingham Winchilsea (age 23) were married. She the daughter of [his father] Henry Paget 2nd Marquess Anglesey (age 49) and Eleanora Campbell. He the son of George Finch-Hatton 5th Earl Nottingham 10th Earl Winchilsea (age 55) and Georgiana Charlotte Graham Countess Nottingham Winchelsea.

On 17th January 1851 Paulyn Reginald Serlo Rawdon-Hastings 3rd Marquess Hastings (age 18) died. His brother [his future brother-in-law] Henry (age 8) succeeded 4th Marquess Hastings, 9th Earl Loudon, 5th Earl Moira, 21st Baron Grey of Ruthyn, 20th Baron Botreaux, 19th Baron Hungerford, 17th Baron Moleyns and 17th Baron Hastings. [his sister] Florence Cecilia Paget Marchioness Hastings (age 8) by marriage Marchioness Hastings.

On 29th April 1854 [his grandfather] Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey (age 85) died. His son [his father] Henry (age 56) succeeded 2nd Marquess Anglesey, 3rd Earl Uxbridge, 11th Baron Paget Beaudasert, 5th Baronet Bayly of Plas Newydd in Anglesey. On 16th July 1864 [his brother-in-law] Henry Weysford Charles Plantagenet Rawdon-Hastings 4th Marquess Hastings (age 21) and [his sister] Florence Cecilia Paget Marchioness Hastings (age 21) were married. The marriage created a scandal as the bride had been engaged to Henry Chaplin (age 23) and had eloped with her husband the day before her planned wedding to Chaplin. Chaplin later got his revenge by outbidding Hastings for the horse Hermit which went on to win the 1867 Derby and against which Hastings had bet heavily. The loss led Hastings into heavy debt and drinking. He died some four years later in poverty. Chronicle of a Bourgeois of Valenciennes

Récits d’un bourgeois de Valenciennes aka The Chronicle of a Bourgeois of Valenciennes is a vivid 14th-century vernacular chronicle written by an anonymous urban chronicler from Valenciennes in the County of Hainaut. It survives in a manuscript that describes local and regional history from about 1253 to 1366, blending chronology, narrative episodes, and eyewitness-style accounts of political, military, and social events in medieval France, Flanders, and the Low Countries. The work begins with a chronological framework of events affecting Valenciennes and its region under rulers such as King Philip VI of France and the shifting allegiances of local nobility. It includes accounts of conflicts, sieges, diplomatic manoeuvres, and the impact of broader struggles like the Hundred Years’ War on urban life in Hainaut. Written from the perspective of a burgher (bourgeois) rather than a monastery or royal court, the chronicle offers a rare lay viewpoint on high politics and warfare, reflecting how merchants, townspeople, and civic institutions experienced the turbulence of the 13th and 14th centuries. Its narrative style combines straightforward reporting of events with moral and civic observations, making it a valuable source for readers interested in medieval urban society, regional politics, and the lived experience of war and governance in pre-modern Europe.

His son [his half-brother] Henry (age 47) succeeded 3rd Marquess Anglesey, 4th Earl Uxbridge, 12th Baron Paget Beaudasert, 6th Baronet Bayly of Plas Newydd in Anglesey. [his sister-in-law] Sophia Eversfield Marchioness Anglesey (age 50) by marriage Marchioness Anglesey.

In 1870 [his brother-in-law] George Chetwynd 4th Baronet (age 20) and [his sister] Florence Cecilia Paget Marchioness Hastings (age 27) were married. She the daughter of [his father] Henry Paget 2nd Marquess Anglesey and [his mother] Henrietta Bagot Marchioness Anglesey. They were fifth cousins.

On 25th June 1872 Henry Wodehouse (age 38) and [his future wife] Mary Livingston "Minna" King Marchioness Anglesey (age 17) were married. The difference in their ages was 20 years.

On 2nd February 1874 Henry Paget 4th Marquess Anglesey (age 38) and Blanche Mary Boyd were married. He the son of Henry Paget 2nd Marquess Anglesey and Henrietta Bagot Marchioness Anglesey.

On 16th June 1875 [his son] Henry Cyril "Toppy" Paget 5th Marquess Anglesey was born to Henry Paget 4th Marquess Anglesey (age 39) and [his wife] Blanche Mary Boyd in Paris [Map]. There were rumours his biological father was Benoît Constant Coquelin (age 34). He married (1) 20th January 1898 his first cousin Lilian Florence Chetwynd Marchioness of Anglesey, daughter of George Chetwynd 4th Baronet and Florence Cecilia Paget Marchioness Hastings.

On 14th August 1877 [his wife] Blanche Mary Boyd died at Boulogne sur Mer [Map]. Her son [his son] Henry Cyril "Toppy" Paget 5th Marquess Anglesey (age 2) was fostered by her sister Edith Marion Boyd until he was eight years old. She, Edith, subsequently married Gustavce Coquelin, brother of Toppy's putative father Benoît Constant Coquelin (age 36).

On 5th March 1878 [his half-sister] Constance Henrietta Paget Countess Nottingham Winchilsea (age 55) died.

On 30th January 1880 [his half-brother] Henry Paget 3rd Marquess Anglesey (age 58) died without issue at Albert Mansions Victoria Street. His half brother Henry (age 44) succeeded 4th Marquess Anglesey, 5th Earl Uxbridge, 13th Baron Paget Beaudasert, 7th Baronet Bayly of Plas Newydd in Anglesey.

On 26th June 1880 Henry Paget 4th Marquess Anglesey (age 44) and Mary Livingston "Minna" King Marchioness Anglesey (age 25) were married. She by marriage Marchioness Anglesey. He the son of Henry Paget 2nd Marquess Anglesey and Henrietta Bagot Marchioness Anglesey.

On 20th January 1898 [his son] Henry Cyril "Toppy" Paget 5th Marquess Anglesey (age 22) and [his daughter-in-law] Lilian Florence Chetwynd Marchioness of Anglesey (age 21) were married in a Catholic ceremony at The Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity with Saint Jude, Sloane Street. She the daughter of [his brother-in-law] George Chetwynd 4th Baronet (age 48) and [his sister] Florence Cecilia Paget Marchioness Hastings (age 55). He the son of Henry Paget 4th Marquess Anglesey (age 62) and [his former wife] Blanche Mary Boyd. They were first cousins.

The History of William Marshal was commissioned by his son shortly after William’s death in 1219 to celebrate the Marshal’s remarkable life; it is an authentic, contemporary voice. The manuscript was discovered in 1861 by French historian Paul Meyer. Meyer published the manuscript in its original Anglo-French in 1891 in two books. This book is a line by line translation of the first of Meyer’s books; lines 1-10152. Book 1 of the History begins in 1139 and ends in 1194. It describes the events of the Anarchy, the role of William’s father John, John’s marriages, William’s childhood, his role as a hostage at the siege of Newbury, his injury and imprisonment in Poitou where he met Eleanor of Aquitaine and his life as a knight errant. It continues with the accusation against him of an improper relationship with Margaret, wife of Henry the Young King, his exile, and return, the death of Henry the Young King, the rebellion of Richard, the future King Richard I, war with France, the death of King Henry II, and the capture of King Richard, and the rebellion of John, the future King John. It ends with the release of King Richard and the death of John Marshal.

His son Henry (age 23) succeeded 5th Marquess Anglesey, 6th Earl Uxbridge, 14th Baron Paget Beaudasert, 8th Baronet Bayly of Plas Newydd in Anglesey.
