George Seton 3rd Earl Winton 1584-1650

In 1582 [his father] Robert Seton 1st Earl Winton [aged 29] and [his mother] Margaret Montgomerie Countess Winton were married. She the daughter of [his grandfather] Hugh Montgomerie 3rd Earl Eglinton [aged 51] and [his grandmother] Agnes Drummond Countess Eglinton [aged 59]. They were second cousins.

In December 1584 George Seton 3rd Earl Winton was born to Robert Seton 1st Earl Winton [aged 31] and Margaret Montgomerie Countess Winton. Coefficient of inbreeding 1.89%.

On the 22nd or 24th March 1603 [his father] Robert Seton 1st Earl Winton [aged 50] died. His son [his brother] Robert [aged 18] succeeded 2nd Earl Winton.

On 1st May 1603 [his brother] Robert Seton 2nd Earl Winton [aged 19] and [his sister-in-law] Ann Maitland Countess Winton [aged 14] were married. He, apparently, went mad on his wedding night - see A History of the Seton Family. She by marriage Countess Winton. She the daughter of John Maitland 1st Lord Maitland of Thirlestane and Jean Fleming Countess Cassilis [aged 49]. He the son of [his father] Robert Seton 1st Earl Winton and [his mother] Margaret Montgomerie Countess Winton. They were half third cousins.

On 26th June 1606 [his brother] Robert Seton 2nd Earl Winton [aged 22]resigned as Earl Winton on account of his being insane; see A History of the Seton Family. His brother George [aged 21] succeeded 3rd Earl Winton. [his future wife] Anne Hay Countess Winton [aged 14] by marriage Countess Winton.

On 26th April 1609 George Seton 3rd Earl Winton [aged 24] and Anne Hay Countess Winton [aged 17] were married. She the daughter of Francis Hay 9th Earl Erroll [aged 44] and Elizabeth Douglas Countess Erroll. He the son of Robert Seton 1st Earl Winton and Margaret Montgomerie Countess Winton. They were fifth cousins.

On 22nd June 1612 [his brother] Alexander Seton aka Montgomerie 6th Earl Eglinton [aged 24] and [his sister-in-law] Anne Livingstone Countess Eglinton were married. She the daughter of Alexander Livingston 1st Earl Linlithgow and Helen Hay. He the son of [his father] Robert Seton 1st Earl Winton and [his mother] Margaret Montgomerie Countess Winton. They were half third cousins.

On 15th May 1613 [his son] George Seton Master of Seton was born to George Seton 3rd Earl Winton [aged 28] and [his wife] Anne Hay Countess Winton [aged 21]. He married 1630 his second cousin Henrietta Gordon, daughter of George Gordon 2nd Marquess Huntly and Anna Campbell Marchioness Huntly, and had issue.

In 1620 [his son] Alexander Seton was born to George Seton 3rd Earl Winton [aged 35] and [his wife] Anne Hay Countess Winton [aged 28].

In 1621 [his daughter] Elizabeth Seton Countess Marischal was born to George Seton 3rd Earl Winton [aged 36] and [his wife] Anne Hay Countess Winton [aged 29]. She married 1637 her third cousin William Keith 7th Earl Marischal, son of William Keith 6th Earl Marischal and Mary Erskine, and had issue.

George Seton Master of Seton: On 15th May 1613 he was born to George Seton 3rd Earl Winton and Anne Hay Countess Winton. In 1630 or 1639 he and Henrietta Gordon were married. She the daughter of George Gordon 2nd Marquess Huntly and Anna Campbell Marchioness Huntly. He the son of George Seton 3rd Earl Winton and Anne Hay Countess Winton. They were second cousins. On 4th June 1648 he died.

Alexander Seton: In 1620 he was born to George Seton 3rd Earl Winton and Anne Hay Countess Winton. In 1691 he died.

Before 1628 George Seton 3rd Earl Winton [aged 43] and Elizabeth Maxwell Countess Winton. Elizabeth Maxwell Countess Winton by marriage Countess Winton.

In 1628 [his wife] Anne Hay Countess Winton [aged 36] died.

In 1630 or 1639 George Seton Master of Seton [aged 16] and Henrietta Gordon were married. She the daughter of George Gordon 2nd Marquess Huntly [aged 38] and Anna Campbell Marchioness Huntly. He the son of George Seton 3rd Earl Winton [aged 45] and Anne Hay Countess Winton. They were second cousins.

In 1631 [his nephew] Hugh Montgomerie 7th Earl Eglinton [aged 18] and Mary Leslie Countess of Eglinton [aged 12] were married. She by marriage Countess Eglinton. She the daughter of John Leslie 6th Earl Rothes [aged 31] and Anne Erskine Countess of Rothes [aged 33]. He the son of [his brother] Alexander Seton aka Montgomerie 6th Earl Eglinton [aged 43] and [his sister-in-law] Anne Livingstone Countess Eglinton. They were fourth cousins.

On 30th September 1634 [his daughter] Anne Seton was born to George Seton 3rd Earl Winton [aged 49] and Elizabeth Maxwell Countess Winton. She married April 1654 her fourth cousin John Stewart 2nd Earl Traquair, son of John Stewart 1st Earl Traquair and Catherine Carnegie Countess Traquair, and had issue.

In 1637 [his son-in-law] William Keith 7th Earl Marischal and Elizabeth Seton Countess Marischal [aged 16] were married. She by marriage Countess Marischal. She the daughter of George Seton 3rd Earl Winton [aged 52] and Anne Hay Countess Winton. He the son of William Keith 6th Earl Marischal and Mary Erskine. They were third cousins.

On 4th June 1648 [his son] George Seton Master of Seton [aged 35] died.

In 1650 [his daughter] Elizabeth Seton Countess Marischal [aged 29] died.

On 17th December 1650 George Seton 3rd Earl Winton [aged 66] died. His grandson [his grandson] George [aged 9] succeeded 4th Earl Winton.
