Biography of Oswald Mosley 6th Baronet 1896-1980

Paternal Family Tree: Mosley

On 12th December 1895 [his father] Oswald Mosley 5th Baronet (age 21) and [his mother] Katharine Maud Edwards-Heathcote (age 21) were married.

On 16th November 1896 Oswald Mosley 6th Baronet was born to Oswald Mosley 5th Baronet (age 22) and Katharine Maud Edwards-Heathcote (age 22) at 47 Hill Street.

On 11th May 1920 Oswald Mosley 6th Baronet (age 23) and Cynthia Blanche Curzon Lady Ancoats (age 21) were married. Following their marriage he is alledged to have had affairs with his wife's younger sister Alexandra Naldera Curzon (age 16) and his wife's step-mother Grace Elvina Hinds Marchioness Curzon Kedleston (age 34). She the daughter of George Nathaniel Curzon 1st Marquess Kedleston (age 61) and Mary Victoria Leiter Baroness Curzon Kedleston.

Cynthia Blanche Curzon Lady Ancoats: On 23rd August 1898 she was born to George Nathaniel Curzon 1st Marquess Kedleston and Mary Victoria Leiter Baroness Curzon Kedleston. On 16th May 1933 Cynthia Blanche Curzon Lady Ancoats died.

Alexandra Naldera Curzon: On 20th March 1904 she was born to George Nathaniel Curzon 1st Marquess Kedleston and Mary Victoria Leiter Baroness Curzon Kedleston. Naldera baing the place in India where she was conceived. In 1925 Major Edward Dudley Metcalfe and she were married. She the daughter of George Nathaniel Curzon 1st Marquess Kedleston and Mary Victoria Leiter Baroness Curzon Kedleston. In 1955 Major Edward Dudley Metcalfe and Alexandra Naldera Curzon were divorced. On 7th August 1995 Alexandra Naldera Curzon died. She was buried at All Saints Church, Kedleston [Map].

In 1921 [his daughter] Vivien Mosley was born to Oswald Mosley 6th Baronet (age 24) and [his wife] Cynthia Blanche Curzon Lady Ancoats (age 22).

On 25th June 1923 [his son] Nicholas Mosley 3rd Baron Ravensdale was born to Oswald Mosley 6th Baronet (age 26) and [his wife] Cynthia Blanche Curzon Lady Ancoats (age 24).

On 21st September 1928 [his father] Oswald Mosley 5th Baronet (age 54) died. His son Oswald (age 31) succeeded 6th Baronet Mosley of Ancoats. [his wife] Cynthia Blanche Curzon Lady Ancoats (age 30) by marriage Lady Mosley of Ancoats. Memorial at St Mary's Church, Rolleston on Dove [Map].

Oswald Mosley 5th Baronet: On 29th December 1873 he was born to Oswald Mosley 4th Baronet at Beaumaris, Anglesey. On 12th December 1895 Oswald Mosley 5th Baronet and Katharine Maud Edwards-Heathcote were married.

On 30th January 1929 Bryan Guiness (age 23) and [his future wife] Diana Mitford (age 18) were married at St Margaret's Church, Westminster [Map].

26th October 1930. Tatler. Sir Oswald Mosley (age 33) with his first wife [his wife] Lady Cynthia (age 32).

In 1932 [his son] Michael Mosley was born to Oswald Mosley 6th Baronet (age 35) and [his wife] Cynthia Blanche Curzon Lady Ancoats (age 33).

On 16th May 1933 [his wife] Cynthia Blanche Curzon Lady Ancoats (age 34) died.

The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed." In June 1933 Bryan Walter Guiness 2nd Baron Moyne (age 27) and [his future wife] Diana Mitford (age 22) were divorced.

Devon-based newspaper the Western Times reported how ‘the Hon. Diana Guinness was granted a decree nisi by Lord Merrivale in the Divorce Court yesterday on the ground of the adultery of her husband, the Hon. Bryan Walter Guinness, who did not defend the suit.'

According to Mrs. Guinness's case she and her husband were perfectly happy until after the birth of their second child in 1931. Differences arose, and there were quarrels. In February, 1933, a deed of separation was entered into. A month later Mrs. Guinness received from her husband a letter stating that he had stayed with Miss Isolde Field at a Brighton hotel.

On 6th October 1936 Oswald Mosley 6th Baronet (age 39) and Diana Mitford (age 26) were married.

In 1938 [his son] Alexander Mosley was born to Oswald Mosley 6th Baronet (age 41) and [his wife] Diana Mitford (age 27).

In 1940 [his son] Max Mosley was born to Oswald Mosley 6th Baronet (age 43) and [his wife] Diana Mitford (age 29).

On 19th April 1941 Andrew Cavendish 11th Duke Devonshire (age 21) and [his sister-in-law] Deborah Mitford (age 21) were married. He the son of Edward William Spencer Cavendish 10th Duke Devonshire (age 45) and Mary Alice Gascoyne-Cecil Duchess Devonshire (age 45).

At the commencement of their honeymoon Deborah ‘stopped the car when starting on her honeymoon and registered at a small Labour Exchange for National Service,' as per The Sketch.

In 1950 [his mother] Katharine Maud Edwards-Heathcote (age 76) died.

On 26th November 1950 Edward William Spencer Cavendish 10th Duke Devonshire (age 55) died. His son Andrew (age 30) succeeded 11th Duke Devonshire, 14th Earl Devonshire, 6th Earl Burlington, 14th Baron Cavendish Hardwick. [his sister-in-law] Deborah Vivien Mitford Duchess Devonshire (age 30) by marriage Duchess Devonshire. On 24th December 1988 Mary Alice Gascoyne-Cecil Duchess Devonshire (age 55) died. Both the Duke and Duchess were buried in the Cavendish Plot, St Peter's Church, Edensor [Map].

On 3rd December 1980 Oswald Mosley 6th Baronet (age 84) died. His son [his son] Nicholas (age 57) succeeded 7th Baronet Mosley of Ancoats.

On 11th August 2003 [his former wife] Diana Mitford (age 93) died.
